Autumnal Morning landscape oil on canvas by Austrian artist Omar Hamdi Malva who was born in Syria in 1951 as the first child of a poor shepherd’s family in Tel Naif, a small village of mud cottages, Malva has had a hard life. His natural skills as a painter were not supported by his family. He left his family at age 17 and received much acclaim for his work under his assumed name. But, for political purposes, he was not able to work. He was drafted in the Syrian military as a graphic artist for seven years. He ended up with a wife and family in Beirut, where he escaped with false passports. His wife then left him (with his children) never to be heard from again. A second wife and family allowed him to restart his life in Austria, .The original frame measures 33 x 40 inches the painting 26 x 32 inches. Purchased from The Walley Findlay Galleries April 1996itme number 117753. Omar Hamdi "Malva" ranks among Austria's most famous contemporary artists, an impressionist distinguished for his rich, lush landscapes of the European countryside. He is represented in the finest galleries from Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Holland, Japan, Russia, Dubai UAE, Canada, New York and in Virginia. Worked as a graphic artist for the Syrian Press, where he also wrote articles an Artistic Critism. - Settled in Vienna since 1978 and now holds the Austrian Nationality.where he lives today. Andrew Walden oil on canvas French landscape dated 1990. Andrew Walden is a self taught Chester, Connecticut, artist. He has been painting for over 40 years. His works are in many private collections. He has exhibited his work in local galleries including the Chester Gallery and One of a Kind Antiques, where this painting was hung in a solo show in the fall of 1990.
