This "Antique Oil on Canvas by Jennie or Fannie Burr circa 1900" measures 17 and three quarter inches wide by 9 and three quarter inches high outside of the frame. The image of this antique oil on canvas by Jennie or Fannie Burr measures 13 and one eighth inches wide by 5 and one eighth inches high. Fannie and Jennie Burr. 1872 to 1961 and 1858 to 1931. They were 2 of 5 children born into Monroe, CT's most prominent family. Their father was a very successful farmer. Although the 2 sisters were 14 years apart, they were close. Fannie began to draw as a child. She later attended and graduated from the Yale School of Fine Arts. After that, she studied at the Art Students League in NYC. These accomplishments were very rare for a young woman in those days. List in Who Was Who in American Art by Falk. Exhibition at the New Britain Museum of American Art New Britian CT. Catalogue of work produced by The Connecticut Gallery Inc.

The sitter, a widow, wears a black beaver hat, a lace-trimmed cloak, and mourning beads. She holds a prayer book, indicating that she could read - unusual for a woman of her time. The frame is antique but not original. Note: Friesen, or Friesland, is the northernmost province of Holland on the North Sea. This antique 18th century portrait painting measures 33 inches high by 25 and one half inches wide. The images of this antique 18th century painting measures 30 and one quarter inches high by 22 and three quarter inches wide. Excellent original as found condition.

Modern Art painting by artist "Jon Schueler" abstract oil on canvas, entitled "Yellow Sky",This abstract American impressionist landscape was painted by Jon Schueler while he lived in Chester Connecticut in the 1960's. Born 1916, died 1992. The painting measures 54 inches by 59 inches.There has just been a book published about Jon Schueler and his work entitled "The Sound of Sleat" edited by Magda Salvesen and Diane Cusineau published by Picador New York. It mentions Schueler in Mallaig Vaig, Chester CT and his connection with Elise (whos home he stayed at while he painted this painting). Jon Schueler was taught by Clyfford Still and Willem de Kooning. See Who Was Who in American Art page 2941 where there is huge biography on the artist. Jon Schueler was one of the best artists of his day. He exhibited at the major galleries, hung out with the important collectors,dealers in New York City and was a very important part of the Abstract expressionist movement that took place in New York in the 1950 to 1960 period and had many exhibitions at the countries premier galleries of the day.

This pair of Antique Dutch water colors each measures 17 and five eighths inches wide by 14 and one eighths inches tall outside the frame and the image within measures approx. 11 inches by 14 and one half inches. This pair of late 17th to early 18th century framed Dutch Old Master drawings after Nicholas Berchem (1620-1683) are in as found estate condition. Center fold marks most probably from being stored in a book at one time.
